10 Romantic Ideas Without Spending a Dime
77Romance Doesn't Have to Be Expensive
A long time ago it was commonly believed that romance had to involve spending a lot of money. You needed to bring the one you loved flowers or chocolates or really impress them with a date of fine dining in an expensive restaurant. Fortunately, many of these romantic ideas have lost a lot of appeal as they have become so cliched. Some of the best ways to show your partner that you love them are simple and free.
Below are our 10 favorite ideas for how to be more romantic - without spending a dime:
1. Little Love Notes: Love notes go a long way, and you don't have to spend anything for them. You can simply use paper you have already laying around the house (even torn off pieces of junk mail will work if you are really frugal!) Leave them little notes in all types of places - in their shoes, their drawers, their car, etc. They'll be surprised everytime they find one!
2. Dandelions and Other Pretty Weeds: So most people expect roses or tulips or carnations. But why not take advantage of some pretty flowers that grow naturally in areas that you can get for free? Dandelions for example are perfect - a lot of people don't want them in their yard, which means you can almost always pick them for free without worrying about someone getting upset that you took them. It's not the type of flower you get, it's the thought that counts.
3. Write a Song: You don't have to be musically talented in order to write a song. Sometimes the worst sung songs, when they come from the heart, are the best.
4. Do Something They Hate: If your partner has something they hate to do, like a household chore or other activity, offering to do it for them will make them pretty happy and show that you care about them.
5. Play a Romantic Game: There are many games that couples can play that don't cost anything. Strip poker for example only takes a deck of cards.
6. Make a List: Writing out a list of the reasons you love your partner is a great way to show that you care about him or her. You can decide to frame it, or just tape it up on the refrigerator.
7. Make a Picture: You don't have to be an artist to make a special picture for the one you love. Draw a memory of a favorite time together or something about them that you love.
8. Recite Poetry: You can either write your own poem or borrow a few lines from one of the classics. Poery can be very romantic.
9. Cook Something: Whether you decide to cook together for a special romantic dinner at home or just make them their favorite dish, cooking is a great way to show your love for someone.
10. Hold Hands and Snuggle: When you've been with someone for a long time, a lot of times you forget to do things like hold hands, kiss them unexpectedly for no reason at all or snuggle up and watch TV together. A backrub can also be a much appreciated romantic gesture.

Great post! One of my favorite ideas is to give a handwritten love letter. Use old parchment paper and a calligraphy pen for a special touch. Roll it up, tie it with a ribbon, and attach a single long-stemmed rose. It's a timeless gift, and in our fast-pace digital world, it is truly unique.
Loved this =) It inspired me to write a hub on the same topic! Voted up!
Interesting Hub, But I think you forgot to mention something which is most effective and That's A Simple Kiss nothing could be more Romantic than that which don't cost a Dime.

This hub is so sweet and the ideas are great. It's amazing what physical contact (nonsexual) can do for a relationship. I'll add one more...Tell your partner that you missed them when they were away. When I don't see my boyfriend for a while, he will often throw in an "I missed you" comment. It gets me every time. :)
